Domestic financial abuse is not limited to any one part of society.  The fact is, financial abuse not only takes place among the wealthy, it can be especially intense and ugly among the more successful middle and upper classes.

Ruth Darlene, M.A. is an educator, domestic violence advocate, social entrepreneur and Founder and Executive Director of WomenSV (Women of Silicon Valley), a domestic violence 501(c)(3) non-profit that serves women in middle-to-upper income areas who are trapped in relationships with powerful and wealthy abusers.

Alana is a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst. As a CDFA, she and her team prepare financial reports showing the short-term, mid-term and long-term impacts of proposed settlements.Alana is the President and Co-Founder of the award winning nonprofit, the Women's Education and Leadership League (WELL) and serves on the Board of Directors for CASA Stanislaus and El Concilio. 

Alana is the 2016 recipient of the National Sue Haskoor Lifetime Achievement Award, she is one of the 2017 Modesto Bee 20 Under 40 winners, one of the 2018 Stanislaus County Women of the Year Award recipients and WELL received the 2016 La RAZA award.

Alana believes financial education and mentoring for women and girls is the key to elevated success in all communities.

Representatives from 20 local nonprofit organizations attended last week’s annual Town Crier Holiday Fund “check-out” event and received their checks. Los Altos Community Foundation served as the fiscal partner and helped distribute the $219,000 raised from the community.
